Every surface in the booth already has a job, and none of them was left open for a drink
The mayo stand tray is the booth's actual work surface, and there isn't much of it — a standard tray runs about 12 5/8 by 19 1/8 inches, and once it's covered in barrier film and loaded with ink caps and the machine, there's no open inch left for anything else. It's also legally off the table: OSHA's bloodborne pathogens standard, 29 CFR 1910.1030(d)(2)(ix) and (x), bars food and drink from any work surface where blood may be present. Its single-pedestal stand adds a second problem that has nothing to do with hygiene — one elbow knock at that narrow base tips the whole tray, ink caps and all.
